New York poet/diarist/lyricist/performer Jim Carroll died on September 11 2009 of a heart attack. He was 60. His 1980 album, “Catholic Boy,” has been hailed as a landmark punk record, and he became known for one of its songs, “People Who Died.”

Synopsis

Suitcase 3: Up We Go Now is due November 3 via Guided By Voices Inc. Like the previous two volumes, this one’s a four-disc set featuring 100 songs, many of them given corresponding fictional band names like Major Cockamamie and Bird Shit Mosaic. The material spans from the mid-90s to the present, with the fourth disc filled with impromptu acoustic Guided By Voices jams recorded by Pollard, Tobin Sprout, and Greg Demos during the band’s 1994-1995 peak.
